Names of eight armed forces installations, including bases

Eight organizations, institutions and establishments of the armed forces named after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina or her family members or people associated with her government have been renamed.

These include three in the Navy, three in the Air Force, one in the Military Command and Staff College and one in the Ministry of Defense.

The Ministry of Defense issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

The notification mentioned that the Chief Advisor to the interim government,Names of eight armed forces who is in executive charge of the Ministry of Defense, has rejected these names and approved the proposed new names.

The list of new names of the eight organizations, institutions and establishments has also been published in the notification. They are:

1. Banaue Bangabandhu in Chittagong New Mooring has been renamed Banaue Khalid Bin Walid

2. Banaue Sheikh Mujib in Khilkhet Namapara, Dhaka has been renamed Banaue Dhaka

3. Banaue Sheikh Hasina in Pekua, Cox’s Bazar has been renamed Banaue Pekua

4. The Bangladesh Air Force base in Kurmitola has been renamed as Base Bir Uttam AK Khandaker after Bangabandhu

5. The Bangabandhu Aeronautical Center of the Air Force in Kurmitola has been renamed as Bangladesh Aeronautical Center

6. The BAFA Bangabandhu Complex at the BAF Academy in Jessore has been renamed as BAFA Complex.Names of eight armed forces

7. The Sheikh Hasina Complex of the Military Command and Staff College in Dhaka’s Mirpur Cantonment has been renamed as DSCSC Complex

8. The Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at the Ganabhaban Complex of the Ministry of Defense in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar has been renamed as Defense Museum.
